Heavy rains in four provinces ; heat warnings to the North and East

COLOMBO (News1st): The meteorological department has forecasted heavy rains in across four provinces on Wednesday while issuing heat warnings to the northern and eastern regions of the country. The Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western provinces are expected to experience thundershowers and receive up to four inches of rainfall after 2 pm tomorrow, the forecast read. This situation is also likely to be experienced in the Anuradhapura, Galle and Matara districts. The weather forecast predicted that thundershowers could be expected in the Southern, Uva and North-Central provinces and the districts of Mannar and Vauniya. Meanwhile, the weather authority also issued an ''extreme caution'' heat advisory to certain areas in the North-Western, North-Central and Eastern provinces and the districts of Mannar, Vauniya, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Monaragala. Heat cramps and heat exhaustion could be experienced during this period tomorrow, the heat index read.
