Sri Lanka reports 24 new COVID-19 patients

COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka confirmed 24 new coronavirus infections on Monday alone, the highest number of infections in a single day, hours after curfew was lifted in several areas. According to health officials, the total number of cases in the country has now risen to 295, with the number of recoveries standing at 96. The patients who tested positive for the virus today were among those who had been quarantined in Bandaranayake Mawatha in Colombo, director general of health services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said. Health authorities on Monday said all residents of Bandaranayake Mawatha in Colombo 12 who were undergoing quarantine at their homes will be subjected to COVID-19 tests. Yesterday, Sri Lanka reported 17 cases of the coronavirus.
