COLOMBO (News1st): More than 100 residents in Bandaranayake Mawatha, Colombo are to be subjected to COVID-19 tests, authorities announced, days after the area was placed under lockdown. This decision had been made after seven people in the area tested positive for the coronavirus, Dr Ruwan Wijayamuni, the Colombo Municipal Council's Chief Medical Officer of Health said. Banadaranayake Mawatha in Grandpass, Colombo was placed under lockdown after a woman who returned from India tested positive for the virus this Thursday. Sri Lanka has reported 254 infections with the number of recoveries rising to 91 early Sunday. Seven people have died due to the virus in the island nation. Health authorities have announced they would scale up testing, with the world health organisation also citing its importance in stemming the spread of the virus.
