Nagalagam Street in Grandpass Declared Isolated

COLOMBO (News 1st): Nagalgam street in Grandpass has been declared as an isolated area, with effect this morning following the detection of several people with suspected COVID-19 cases, officials said. Speaking to News 1st, Head of the Task Force to Prevent COVID-19, Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said, although a large number of people have been directed into quarantine from the area already, there could still be people who maintained contacts with the COVID-19 infected patient confirmed from the area. Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said, therefore the decision was taken to isolate the area to prevent further spread of the virus to the nearby areas, and emphasized that people should continue to follow social distancing guidelines.
