Village in Mannar placed under isolation after COVID-19 movement

Colombo (News 1st); The Tharapuram village in Mannar was declared as a no go zone on Thursday night.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva speaking at the National Operations Centre for Preventing COVID-19 said the village was placed in isolation as a person who tested positive for COVID-19 from Puttlam two days ago had attended a funeral in the Tharapuram village on the 18th of March and visited several houses as well. The Tharapuram village is home to over 4,600 people belonging to over 900 families. The entire village was locked down as it is impossible to move a large number of people in to quarantine facilities.
