COLOMBO (News1st): Five people including a local authority politician have been remanded until April 16 over the abuse of teenage child, an incident which sparked anger among public circles. The arrests came after area residents of Sewanagala blamed authorities for attempting to conceal the incident in a bid to harbour the suspects. The child, a 13-year old resident of Kiriibbanwewa, Sevanagala, who had been allegedly abused last Tuesday has been admitted to the Hambantota hospital. Residents alleged that a pradeshiya member in the area representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party had been involved in the incident.
