Group of 37 released after 28 days in quarantine

1311 people continue to remain in quarantine facilities in SL

Colombo (News 1st) : A total of 3459 people have been released from quarantine camps operated by the three armed forces thus far, while 1311 people continue to undergo the mandatory quarantine period.

Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva speaking at the National Operations Centre for Preventing COVID-19 last evening said 37 people who had to undergo 28 days of quarantine were released on Thursday from the Kandakadu Quarantine Facility. He said the group was subject to a PCR Test twice as a person who was in quarantine with them, tested positive for COVID-19 earlier. The Army Commander said the group was released after it was established they all tested negative for COVID-19. A group of 67 people from 23 families were immediately moved to the Diyathalawa and Kahagolla Quarantine Facilities on Wednesday Night, as two people from Ratnapura tested positive earlier that day. In addition, 16 people were moved in to the Punani quarantine facility on Wednesday night as two people who returned from India tested positive for COVID-19. The two COVID-19 cases are from Hakmana in Matara and their relatives were moved in to quarantine.
