Coroners request for protective clothing

COLOMBO (News1st) : The coroners association on Wednesday called on authorities to supply protective clothing citing health risks while conducting postmortem examinations. "There are close to 600 Coroners in the country who carry out more than 500 postmortems a day," Anura Herath, Chairman of the Coroners Association of Sri Lanka said. Accordingly, the coroners association requested state authorities or donors to provide them with protective clothing. Herath pointed out that the government has imposed a mandatory postmortem examination for all COVID-19 deaths in the country. Sri Lanka has reported nine deaths due to the virus.
