President, PM holds talks with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya

COLOMBO (News1st):  Issuing a statement the President's Office said, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minster Mahinda Rajapaksa held talks with the "Samagi Jana Balavegaya" today in Colombo, on the present state of affairs in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. According to the President's Office, the President at this meeting pointed out the important and timely decisions taken by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, to surpass other countries in establishing public security. President Rajapaksa stressed all measures are in place to protect the people, including the closure of schools & universities and ensuring there is no collapse in maintaining essential services. In its statement, the President's Office said, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya praised the Government for its efforts to combat COVID-19, and both sides agreed the program must move forward casting aside all differences. The President's Office further noted, it was revealed at the meeting, a consignment of medication will arrive in the country from India, tomorrow. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said at a time when the entire global economy is facing an issue, plans have already been made for Sri Lanka to move towards an economic mechanism which will suite its needs.
