COLOMBO (News1st): The Sri Lankan community in China along with some Chinese citizens, has donated medical supplies to Sri Lanka to assist in combatting COVID – 19, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing said Thursday.
The Embassy, in a statement, said these medical supplies would be flown to Sri Lanka by Saturday on a SriLankan Airlines flight without incurring freight costs.
Supplies include surgical masks, forehead thermometers, disposable face masks, N95 masks, goggles, infrared electronic thermometers, isolation cloth, protection suits, and disposable gloves.
According to the Embassy, the Sri Lanka Consulate in Shanghai has coordinated with the local authorities to fast-track the customs clearance of these products.
The medical supplies upon being brought to the country will be handed over to the ministry of health following which it would be distributed among medical staff.
