COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka’s minister of employment and labour relations, Dinesh Gunawardena, has given an assurance to protect the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in the country.
In a message posted on his Twitter handle, the minister said he had assured trade unions that the government will protect the EPF and will not undertake measures to “dilute the fund”.
The EPF, which is the largest social security scheme in the country, provides financial stability for employees following their retirement from service.
