The Government has requested telecommunication service providers, not to disconnect connections for delayed payments.
Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Bandula Gunawardena says the necessary directive had been issued to all telecommunication companies during a discussion held yesterday.
Speaking to News 1st the Minister said, this directive had been issued to service providers since communication is essential during tumultuous times such as this, especially with islandwide curfew currently in effect.
The Minister added that the Government had advised the service providers to not add late payment fees or to disconnect connections which have defaulted payments until the situation in the country returns to normalcy.
