COLOMBO (News1st): The Ceylon Bank Employees’ Union has encouraged the use of ATM’s and cash deposit machines over visiting banks, in the backdrop of the COVID – 19 pandemic which claimed one life in the country late Saturday.
Issuing a statement, the CBEU noted that there are 5031 ATM machines in the country and that banks have taken the necessary measures to disinfect them.
The Union urged customers visiting banks for cash deposits and withdrawals, to adhere to the health regulations stipulated by the government while standing in queues.
The statement also encouraged banking customers to use online services for inter-bank, and intra-bank funds transfers, to pay utility bills, credit card bills, and to also check the account balance.
The CBEU pointed out that inquiring about the services that are being provided by the banks before visiting them, can assist customers to avoid facing any inconveniences.
It also advised the public to only obtain services which are of utmost importance especially when visiting a bank.
