Pathfinder Foundation proposes to set-up an “Economic Recovery Task Force”

COLOMBO (News1st): The Pathfinder Foundation has proposed to set up a fully empowered “Economic Recovery Task Force”, as COVID - 19 has left several sectors reeling on the economic front. Issuing a statement, the Foundation added that the Task Force should immediately develop a comprehensive short, medium and long term blueprint for Sri Lanka’s economic recovery once the situation stabilizes. It further said that the Task Force, should comprise of "the best minds the country has to offer", and added that the group should look for ‘beyond the box’ solutions to the economic issue. The release also added that it is important for the people of Sri Lanka to understand that the post - corona global environment will look very different to the world we knew before this pandemic engulfed us.

A Task Force to meet economic challenges is a good idea.

Such a group should focus on pragmatic, practical steps.

Sri Lanka should look at this both as a challenge and an opportunity - an opportunity to reset our economy, rid our nation of corruption and attract the right investors.
