COLOMBO (News 1st): The total number of Coronavirus patients in the country has increased up to 77. Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that 72% of the reported patients are males. Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva states that presently, over 2700 individuals have been sent over to 17 centers for quarantine. Further, the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health states that 245 patients admitted under the suspicion of Corona are currently being treated at several hospitals. The majority of the confirmed cases are reported from the Gampaha district. The number of confirmed cases in the Gampaha district now stands at 18, while 17 cases are confirmed in the Colombo district while 12 cases reported from Puttalam district. Kurunegala and Kalutara districts, each, have reported 4 confirmed COVID-19 cases, while 3 are reported from the Ratnapura district. The remaining confirmed COVID-19 cases are from the Galle, Matara, Kegalle, Batticaloa and Badulla districts. Three foreign nationals are also among the confirmed COVID-19 patients. Minister of Health, Pavithra Wanniarachchi said all the confirmed COVID-19 patients in Sri Lanka are being treated under the supervision of a special medical team. The minister also urged the general public to kindly follow the instructions issued by the government amid this concerning situation.
