Customs to assist clearance of essential goods

Arrangements made to facilitate clearance of essential goods and BOI processes

COLOMBO (News1st): The Department of Customs says that arrangements have been made to facilitate Board of Investment processes, and the clearance of imports concerning essential goods. Staff at the long room, at which declaration forms are submitted by importers in respect of sea cargos except for motor vehicles, will function from 10 am to 2 pm, Customs Spokesman Sunil Jayarathne said. In addition, employees of Rank Container Terminals Ltd., which inspects and verifies green channel cargo, will also be available from 10 am to 5 pm. The Customs Spokesman stated that the Container Verification Terminal will facilitate the necessary arrangements concerning the above processes on call. BOI companies which are engaged in manufacturing items for exports at Free Trade Zones, will also be facilitated. These arrangements will be in effect until Monday.
