Police curfew for Puttalam lifted till 2 pm

Police curfew imposed in several police divisions of Puttalam, Chilaw and Negombo-Kochchikade, lifted

Colombo (News 1st) - Police curfew that was imposed at 4:30 pm yesterday, for police divisions of Puttalam, police divisions of Chilaw and the police jurisdiction area of Negombo-Kochchikade police station, was lifted at 8 am today. "The curfew will be re-imposed to the said police divisions, at 2 this afternoon," said Jaliya Senaratne, the Police Media Spokesperson. The curfew was imposed yesterday evening in a bid to assist the containment efforts of COVID-19. Accordingly, in the Puttalam police division, the curfew will again be in effect from 2:00 this afternoon, in Puttalam, Kalpitiya, Karuwalagaswewa, Mundalama, Nawaththegama, Palma, Wanathawilluwa, Udappuwa, Norochcholei and Saliya-wewa. In the Chilaw Police division, the curfew will be in effect in Chilaw, Dankotuwa, Koswatta, Madampe, Marawila, Wennapuwa and Aaarachchikattuwa. The Police headquarters said, the curfew will also be in effect in the Negombo-Kochchikade police jurisdiction area, from 2:00 pm today. However, travelling for essential services and public transport in the said areas, will not be affected due to the curfew. Police noted, passengers who are travelling to the Bandaranaike International Airport can travel through the areas under police curfew, by showing the air ticket.
