UGC closes down all State Universities for two weeks

COLOMBO ( News 1st ) -  The University Grants Commission decided to close all state universities for two weeks from today.

Chairman of the UGC Professor Sampath Amaratunga said this measure was taken to protect students following concerns in COVID-19. All weekend courses conducted at state universities will also be suspended. The Ministry of Education has decided to grant a two week holidays to all National Colleges of Education and Teacher Training Colleges from the 16th to the 29th of March . Education activities will commence from 30th of March . The government decided to close all preschools in the country until the 20th of this month, as well as special guidelines have been issued to ensure the safety at Day Care Centers. Moreover 04 Polish nationals who arrived at the BIA to travel overseas were admitted to IDH. Saudi Arabia will suspend international flights for two weeks from Sunday(15) to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.
