CSE trading halted for second consecutive day

Colombo (News 1st) - The Colombo Stock Exchange closed negative today, and the market was halted for the 2nd consecutive day today, due to S&P SL20 index dropping over 5%. The All Share Price Index dropped 170 basis points, while the S&P SL20 dropped 105.59 basis points. Meanwhile, the Securities and Exchange Commission convened a special meeting yesterday, to assess the current situation in the stock market and determine what regulatory relief and assistance was needed to manage the impact arising from the global stock market downturn due to the panic triggered by the escalation of the Covid-19 outbreak.
