Colombo (News 1st) - Further examination of the petition filed by Ravi Karunanayake & three others seeking an order to prevent their arrest over the bond scam was fixed for tomorrow by the Court of Appeal.
The Attorney General requested for a three judge bench be appointed to examine the petition and thereby the Court of Appeal announced the matter would be taken up in the presence of Appeal Court President Justice A.H.M.D Nawaz and Justices Shiran Gunaratne and Sobitha Rajakaruna.
Senior Deputy Solicitor General Milinda Gunathilake appearing for the Attorney General said as there was no legal basis for the requests made by the petitioners, the petition should be rejected without even taking it in to consideration. He pointed out the Fort Magistrate issued the arrest warrants after carefully considering all the facts presented to court.
Senior Deputy Solicitor General Milinda Gunathilake pointed out the suspects are charged with the Criminal Misappropriation of 52 Billion Rupees, which is public property, and had been avoiding court and Police and thus far failed to surrender to court.
The others who filed the petition with Ravi Karunanayake are Arjun Aloysius, Indika Saman Kumara and Sangarappillai Pathumanapan.
