Army calls on public to support the quarantine process

Colombo (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Army has requested the general public to assist them in the quarantine program commenced for people who arrived from South Korea, Italy and Iran. Issuing a statement, The Army said, due to the opposition from certain people on fear of spreading the virus, the progress of the program has been hampered. Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva stated that the Sri Lanka Army has provided all facilities that they can to the people who have been quarantined. He added that doctors are taking steps to examine the quarantined persons 3 times a day and that the procedures that they have adopted should help reduce the chances of the virus spreading. The Commander noted that even though some people do not like the quarantine process, it is the duty of the General public to support the move as the people who are being quarantined are also fellow countrymen and women.
