First batch of arrivals enroute to Batticaloa quarantine center

Colombo (News 1st) - An aircraft from South Korea with 166 passengers onboard arrived at the BIA this morning. An official attached to the BIA said, 164 Sri Lankans and 2 South Koreans are among the passengers. The group is scheduled to be transported to the Batticaloa Campus for a 14 day quarantine period. The Ministry of Health states that the quarantine process of those arriving from Iran and Italy will begin today. Additional Secretary to the President for Foreign Relations, Admiral Jayanath Colombage said quarantine centers have been established to house more than 1,000 people. Admiral Colombage further cautioned the general public to suspend foreign travel unless it is absolutely necessary adding that such action would help curtail the spread of the Coronavirus.
