UPDATE: Airforce joins in to contain Sundarapola garbage dump fire

COLOMBO (News 1st):- A fire erupted at the garbage dump at Sundarapola, Kurunegala a while ago. The Kurunegala Municipal Council and the Kurunegala Unit of the Disaster Management Centre joined to douse the fire. Meanwhile, a Bell 212 helicopter from the AirForce Base in Hingurakgoda was also deployed to douse the fire that occurred in the Kurunegala garbage dump. In addition, two firefighter trucks of the Kurunegala Municipal Council have also been deployed for the purpose. The DMC states that it has become quite difficult to contain the fire presently.
