SLMC pledges support to Samagi Jana Balavegaya

Colombo (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress on Friday (Feb 28) announced it would support the Samagi Jana Balavegaya led by Sajith Premadasa. Addressing a media briefing at the Parliamentary Complex SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem noted that the SLMC as a party that represents the Muslim community of Sri Lanka would join the  Samagi Jana Balawegaya as it is an alliance formed to strengthen the unity among Sri Lankans. Hakeem went onto note that the alliance is a strong force that can challenge the present Government. Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa joining the briefing noted that the SLMC joining the ranks of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya is a source of major strength. Premadasa went onto note that the UNP Working Committee had named him as the main UNP representative within the Samagi Jana Balavegaya, adding that this had been endorsed by UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as well.
