Colombo (News 1st) - The Ministry of Education decided not to conduct first term examinations across all government schools in the future. A statement from the Ministry of Education noted, this measure would not apply for the first term of 2020 as schools are already prepped for the first term examinations. According to the statement, almost all schools in the country dedicate more time for sport-meets, field trips, exhibitions and big matches during the first term and this situation results in most students being ill-prepared to face the term exams. The Ministry also added certain students drop out of sports and extracurricular activities fearing they would fail the exams if they do not dedicate more time for studies. The Ministry of Education thereby said the first term would be dedicated for sports and extra-curricular activities and there would be no first term examination across all government schools in the future.
