Fire destroys 10 acres of Castlereigh reserve

Colombo (News 1st) - A fire that erupted this evening at around 5 pm in the Castlereigh reserve has destroyed around 10 acres of land according to the Norwood Police. The fire erupted in the New Valley area of Norwood. Our correspondent in the area noted that the fire spread towards the Hatton - Maskeliya main road. The fire has been brought under control through the efforts of the Norwood police and workers attached to a garment factory which was in the path of the fire. Police suspect that the fire had been set by individuals engaging in illegal fishing in the Castlereigh reservoir.
