Colombo (News 1st): Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne postponed the examination of evidence in the case filed against 06 people including Minister Wimal Weerawansa to the 29th of June.
The suspects are charged with engaging in a demonstration on the 06th of February 2016 along Baudhdhaloka Mawatha, obstructing Havelock Road against the visit of then UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra'ad Zeid al-Hussein.
MP Jayantha Samaraweera, the second suspect in the case did not appear before court today (Feb 17). The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court issued a warrant for the arrest of MP Jayantha Samaraweera for failure to appear in court today.
In addition, the Chief Magistrate also ordered to issue notice on those who appeared as a bail bondsman for the MP, to appear in court. Actor Roger Seneviratne who was also named a suspect in the case was not present in court today, however, his attorney produced a medical report to court for his absence.
