8 arrested for treasure hunting in Yatiyanthota

Colombo (News 1st): Eight people were arrested for mining treasure in the 100-acre canal in Malapalaakanda in the Yatiyanthota  Police Division. The suspects were arrested this morning (Feb 17) following a tip-off received by the Pugoda Special Task Force. Along with the suspects, a generator, gun powder, swords, metal poles, and religious offerings were taken into custody by the Pugoda Special Task Force. The suspects are residents of Yatiyanthota and they are to be produced before the courts today.
