Lasantha Assassination Case postponed

Colombo (News 1st): The case filed over the assassination of Veteran Journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge was postponed to the 19th of June by Mount Lavinia Magistrate Mohamed Mihail when the matter was taken up for examination today. The Criminal Investigations Department informed the court today, as investigations regarding the abduction of the late Wickremetunge's driver are over, the respective case file was sent to the Attorney General and further investigations are underway. Three suspects were charged with concealing evidence and failing to conduct proper investigations and were released on bail. The second suspect in the case, Thissa Sugathapala informed the court , he would not appear as he would be appearing for a separate case at another court. Today court lifted the overseas travel ban imposed on Former Senior DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara, the Third Suspect in the case. Court also granted permission for a request made by Prasanna Nanayakkara to appear at the Criminal Investigations Department once in every three months.
