Colombo (News 1st) – The Attorney General has requested the Court of Appeal to lift the interim injunction order that has been placed, preventing the containers carrying garbage imported from Britain at the Colombo Port and the FTZ in Katunayake, from being transported out.
Senior Deputy Solicitor General Milinda Gunathilake made this request, citing that the interim injunction order could affect the discussions that have commenced regarding the garbage being
re-exported to Britain.
The Senior Deputy Solicitor General noted that British officials have expressed their displeasure in discussing the re-exporting of the garbage when an interim injunction is still in effect. President of the Court of Appeal A.H.M.D Nawaz and Justice Arjuna Obeysekara stated that the final decision on the lifting of the interim injunction would be made on the 4th of March.
