Ranjan's bail application rejected

Attorney General informs court that Ranjan Ramanayake has held 63 telephone conversations with judges

Colombo (News 1st): Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris notified Nugegoda Additional Magistrate today that investigations had revealed, Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake has had 63 telephone conversations with three judges. This was when the case was taken up at the Nugegoda Magistrates' Court today. Ranjan Ramanayake was brought to the court premises amidst tight security.

There are conversations of everyone in Parliament. I have not lied. There are 124000. The government releases ones that are advantageous to them. The rest are all disadvantages.
The Deputy Solicitor General presenting facts before Nuegegoda Magistrate Harsha Palpola pointed out that MP Ramanayake had held 33 telephone conversations with Padmini Ranawake, 20 telephone conversations with Dhammika Hemapala and 10 telephone conversations with Gihan Pilapitiya. Deputy Solicitor General also revealed in court that Gihan Pilapitiya had contacted Ranjan Ramanayake on 6 occasions. He noted, that Ranjan Ramanayake's Social media accounts are still in operation, The Deputy Solicitor General further said that granting bail to Ranjan Ramanayake would hinder the investigations. He said that bail not be granted until a report is obtained with regard to the voice clips and the investigations are concluded. The Nugegoda Magistrate rejected the bail application of Ranjan Ramanayake and further remanded him until the 26th. The case pertaining to Ranjan Ramanayake possessing 127 bullets were also taken up today. The Attorney General's Department noted that a government analyst's report and a report from the ministry of defence has been called. Following the hearing, speaking to the media he said;
"This is the situation if you speak the truth in this country. We are not given bail. We have not robbed. No thuggery. There was no corruption. This happened to me because I tried to uncover the rogues. I speak the truth."
