14 arrested for mixing toxic substance to Keselgamuwa Oya

Colombo (News 1st): 14 suspects who had mixed a toxic substance to the Keselgamu Oya with the intention of killing fish, have been arrested. On the 9th of February, a group of people from the Venture Estate in Norwood had added a poisonous substance to the Keselgamu Oya in order to kill off the fish in the Oya. Our correspondent said many marine animals including fish within a vicinity of around 3 km had died as a result of the poisonous substance. The Police arrested the relevant suspects yesterday (Feb 10) and the day before (Feb 9).
