Committee to probe and report on electricity issues

Colombo (News 1st): The Ministry of Power and Energy appointed a six-member committee to daily probe and report on electricity-related issues. The Committee will be chaired by an Additional Secretary who would represent the Ministry of Power and Energy and would comprise of an official from the Ministry, two representatives each from the Ceylon Electricity Board and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. At a meeting this morning on the providing an uninterrupted supply of power at the CPC, the subject minister appointed the committee to identify issues in electricity generation and review them. The committee would be tasked with reviewing the CEB & CPC and related bodies for electricity generation and provide a daily report to the Minister. The Minister instructed the respective institutions to refrain from taking decisions which would cause public inconvenience when an issue arises, and the Minister should be informed immediately whenever an issue arises.
