COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Anunayake Theros of the Malwathu and Asgiriya Chapters today (February 8) said that the country is heading into an abyss due to the crisis between political parties.
The Anunayake of the Malwathu Chapter of the Siam Sect, Most Ven. Dimbulkumbure Wimaladharma Thero said:
“First, it was Ranil who pushed the country into such a situation and hosted a Bodhi Pooja in Kelaniya. In that sermon, I reminded that attempts should be made to follow the children of the Lichchhavi kings as that is the best thing to do. However, there seems to be no sign of that. Both parties are the same. There is no difference between the two. There are conflicts in both the United National Party and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. How can they set an example for the country? Now there is a price hike in goods. The politicians should look into this matter. A coconut is selling at Rs. 80. They need to know the plight of poor people. Sajith Premadasa has said that he will not oppose all the activities of the government.”
The Anunayake of the Malwathu Chapter of Siam Sect, Most. Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thero also speaking at the occasion said:
“There are Sri Lankan specialists overseas. They share their expertise and knowledge in those countries. Approach those people and incorporate them into the system.”
The Thero further says that these intellectuals are staying away from the country due to the lack of proper leadership.
The Anunayaka Theros made these remarks when Speaker Karu Jayasuriya paid respects to them this morning (February 8).
