4 arrested for illegal sand mining

Navy apprehends four persons while illegal sand mining

Colombo (News 1st): The Sri Lanka Navy has apprehended four persons who were engaging in illegal sand mining without a permit in Ginganga yesterday (Feb 5). The suspects have been arrested by the Southern Naval Command during a raid carried out by them. One cube of illegally mined sand and equipment used for sand mining was also taken into Naval custody. The suspects have been identified as residents of Wakwella, Poddala and Ganegama areas. The arrested suspects, the cube of illegally mined sand and the equipment used for sand mining have been handed over to Thelikkada and Baddegama Police Stations for further investigation.
