Colombo (News 1st): 15 government, Private and International Schools in the Colombo district will be closed on the 3rd of February, due to Independence Day celebration rehearsals.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Local Government the final rehearsals for the 72nd National Day Celebrations will be held from tomorrow (Feb 3) morning.

Hence, the Education Ministry has decided to close the following schools located near Independence Square to minimize traffic congestion.

D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo
Royal College, Colombo
Thurstan College, Colombo
Yashodhara College, Colombo
Meauseus College, Colombo
St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo
Lady’s College, Colombo
Colombo International School, Colombo
Wycherley International School, Colombo

Further, the following schools will be closed to provide accommodation facilities for security personnel participating in the training.

January 30th, 2 PM to February 4th, 4 PM

Mahanama Collge, Colombo
St. Micheal’s Boys College, Polwatta
St. Mary’s Girls’ College, Polwatta (Including the Junior School)

February 3rd, 9 AM to February 4th

Mihidu Maha Vdyalaya, Colombo 12

Ashoka College, Colombo 10
