Colombo (News 1st): A group of Chinese workers engaged in construction activities along the Southern Expressway have filed a complaint against former Southern provincial councillor M.K. Kasun over an alleged incident where he had threatened the relevant workers.
The complaint had been filed by several workers engaged in construction activities along the Beliatta – Kahawatta entry road along the Southern Expressway. The workers are attached to a Chinese construction company.
The former councillor had met the workers on the 27th and discussed the road not being constructed according to a satisfactory standard. The employees have complained to the police stating that they were threatened by the MP during the discussion.
As a result of this, 180 employees of the contract company had quit yesterday (Jan 28). Our correspondent stated the workers had reportedly returned to work today after the OIC of the Beliatta Police promised to intervene in the matter.
