I gave up my Swiss citizenship - Geetha Kumarasinghe

Colombo (News 1st) -  Former UPFA MP Geetha Kumarasinghe seems disappointed with the current state of affairs in the political arena. Speaking to the media in Akmeemana, the former MP states that there are those who wish to shove them aside in a bid to come to the forefront. Geetha Kumarasinghe who had a successful acting career herself noted that there are numerous artistes and sportspersons preparing to contest for the election, she questioned what this would mean to politicians in the Galle district who have continued to work hard for the party. She noted that she contested in 2010 but lost, she added that due to hard work from 2010 to 2015 she was able to win the hearts of the people and enter parliament once more. She noted that her seat in parliament was stolen from her, referring to the fact that she lost her seat due to her dual citizenship. Kumarasinghe stated that she gave up her Swiss citizenship placing considerable strain on her family as well, in order to work for the people that supported her.
