Sajith Premadasa convenes UNP electoral organizers meeting to discuss upcoming general elections

Colombo (News 1st): A meeting with United National Party electorate organizers was convened at the parliamentary complex, under the auspices of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa. The meeting commenced at 3:45 pm yesterday (Jan 21). Attention was drawn towards the upcoming general election during the meeting today. UNP MP Harshana Rajakaruna noted that Sajith Premadasa discussed in-depth regarding the steps that should be taken by electorate organizers for the upcoming general election. He added that many organizers contributed their views in a positive manner. Rajakaruna went onto note that on the 26th of January, at 2:00 pm, an awareness program for all local government representatives of the UNF and all local government contestants will be held. He said that they have already commenced the program to win the upcoming general election. UNP MP Nalin Bandara also spoke to the media regarding the meeting;
MP Nalin Bandara: We are currently in the process of implementing a program to win the upcoming general election. Journalist: Ranil Wickremesinghe is still the leader of the UNP MP Nalin Bandara: Do not panic. Such issues will be addressed smoothly. Journalist: Why was Akila Viraj Kariyawasam not informed of today's meeting? MP Nalin Bandara: I am not aware of that. Journalist: He has made accusations claiming the party was not aware of this. He claims the meeting was convened without party approval. MP Nalin Bandara: It is not practical to inform everything to everyone. Journalist: Who chaired the meeting? MP Nalin Bandara: Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa had convened the meeting. So the meeting was chaired by him. Journalist: Where is Ranil Wickremesinghe? MP Nalin Bandara: Everyone does not have to be present. Journalist: Don't you think this problem should be solved by removing the general secretary from his position? MP Nalin Bandara: Do not panic. We will go forward without chasing anyone away from their positions. Journalist: I'm not referring to chasing anyone away, but a change in positions.
