MR assures that MCC will not be signed in secret

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said that he was surprised by the statement made by the United National Party regarding the MCC agreement. Issuing a communique the Prime Minister said that the UNP cabinet had decided to sign the MCC agreement a few days before the Presidential election. The Prime Minister stressed that under no circumstance will his government sign such an agreement in secret without informing the parliament and the general public. In his communique, the Prime Minister added that his government will not sign any agreement detrimental to the country.
