Water purification project for Railway stations fraudulent; investigations commence

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Investigations have commenced into a large scale financial fraud that has allegedly occurred on a water purification project at the Railway Department. State Minister of Railway Services, C. B. Rathnayake says that the financial fraud had occurred during the water purification project seeking to provide water to the general public gathered at railway stations from Galgamuwa to Anuradhapura. The Minister said that although the due amounts were paid for the project that a water purifier was not yet installed for the people. He further said that investigations have also commenced into a financial fraud said to have occurred when purchasing fans for the railway department.
