Colombo Stock Exchange closes on negative note

Colombo (News 1st): The Colombo Stock Exchange closed on a negative note today (Jan 17), with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) declining for the fourth straight session to end 0.14% weaker at 5,932.92 and the S&P SL20 declining by 0.58% to close at 2,791.06. Stockbrokers said the ASPI ended 0.91% lower for the shortened trading week amid healthy market turnover. Activity centred around the banking, finance and insurance sector accounted for a majority of the week's turnover. Foreign participation resulted in a net outflow of 649 million rupees during the week. The Central Bank issued US$ 100 million dollars of Sri Lanka Development Bonds for one year and seven months, two years, three years and five years at an auction held during January 13 - 17, 2020.
