UNP leadership: Final decision today

COLOMBO(News 1st) -  The United National Party Parliamentary Group will meet later today at the Sirikotha Party Headquarters. The UNP parliamentary group who met at the party headquarters on the 9th had been reached the conclusion that the decision on the party leadership will be taken today. The parliamentary group is scheduled to convene at 5 pm this evening, chaired by UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe. UNP MP J. C. Alawathuwala noted that they took a decision at the parliamentary group meeting held in Sirikotha recently and the meeting which is to be held today will carry the decision forward. He added that the people of the country expect a change in the UNP. He went on to note that most of the UNP MPs have requested presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa to lead the party at the General Elections. He stated that if it is necessary they would come to a decision through an election.
