Colombo (News 1st) – The registration of new political parties is set to commence tomorrow.
The National Elections Commission noted that the gazette notification in this regard would be issued tomorrow and that applications would be accepted till the 16th of February.
This is the first time new political parties are being registered after 2017. The Elections Commission noted that they did not accept new party registrations since 2017 as it is illegal to register new political parties during election periods.
