Colombo (News 1st): Media spokesperson of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Weerakumara Dissanayake said that the Central Committee of the SLFP will convene at the Party Headquarters tomorrow (Jan 16). He said that matters including the steps that should be taken for the upcoming general election will be discussed at the meeting.
Weerakumara Dissanayake:  We are holding disciplinary inquiries against certain members. We will have to take some action against S.B. Dissanayake, Dilan Perera, Vijith Wijayamuni Soyza and Lakshman Yapa on the 18th. Also, we have taken disciplinary action against 25 local government councilors who supported the United National Party. Journalist: But none of them pay attention to the disciplinary inquiry as they are holding ministerial positions of the current government. Weerakumara Dissanayake: It is not important to us if they worry about it or not. Our disciplinary inquiry and procedures are still ongoing. If they actually don't care about the disciplinary inquiry they wouldn't send lawyers and make submissions before the disciplinary committee, they can just sit aside and do nothing. But they are engaged in all of these legal procedures.
Journalists questioned if any action will be taken against former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
Weerakumara Dissanayake: We have not taken any steps against her yet. She was working for the victory of Sajith Premadasa at the previous election against our decision. The party will have to hold discussions and take some action. But the party has not yet taken any steps against her. Journalist: Haven't you taken any steps? Weerakumara Dissanayake: We have not taken any action yet. The phrases, haven't taken any action, and will not take any action are different. We will have to hold discussions about it and take a decision. We will have to discuss if we are going to involve her in the future activities of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
