600 dengue patients reported in 2020

Colombo (News 1st): The Health Ministry instituted legal action against 138 State Institutions in 2019 for maintaining an environment conducive for dengue mosquito breeding. The National Dengue Control Unit said in 2019 alone 2068 state institutions were inspected and 168 were considered to have been conducive for dengue mosquito breeding. The National Dengue Control Unit went on to say during the said period 1494 schools were inspected and 259 were found to have dengue breeding sites. In 2019, the Ministry of Health carried out 12 Special Dengue Control programs and inspected a total of 652,897 premises across the country. 156,000 premises had maintained an environment conducive for mosquito breeding. The National Dengue Control Unit said 21,585 premises were found to have Dengue Mosquito Larvae. More than 600 dengue patients were reported so far this year.
