Pujith and Hemasiri further remanded

Colombo (News 1st) - IGP Pujith Jayasundara, who was sent on compulsory leave, & Ex-Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando were remanded until 20th January by Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage today (Jan 6). The duo were arrested for failing in their duty to prevent the April 21st attacks. Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing for the Attorney General said Former President Maithripala Sirisena had stated that he is available to provide a statement on Tuesday and Wednesday as requested for the on-going investigations. DSG Peiris added, Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is yet to provide detectives with an appointment to record a statement. He went on to note, statements would be recorded from Former Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley and Former Governor of the Eastern Province M. L. A. M. Hizbullah in due course.
