Committee appointed to issue permits for sand and soil mining

COLOMBO (News 1st):- A committee has been appointed to assess the process of issuing permits for sand, soil, gravel, and earthenware mining. Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Wildlife, Jayanthi Wijethunge said that this decision was taken due to the numerous fraudulent activities and irregularities that occurred when issuing licenses. She further said that they hope to expedite and make the process more efficient through the recommendations of the committee.
