Tax relief in effect from tomorrow

COLOMBO(News 1st) - Convening a media briefing today (December 31) the Cabinet spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated that the tax relief that government accorded will be in effect from tomorrow (January 1). Economic service tax, Debt tax of financial institutions and Banks, Capital Tax on the basis of the Profit of the Stock Market, Payee Tax, Withholding Tax on interest, Credit Service Tax, All Taxes on Religious places and Taxes on remittances of foreign workers and the relevant relief on those taxes will be in effect from tomorrow. According to the Department of Government Information, taxes on earnings from construction will be cut down from 28 to 14 and taxes on all earnings from the plantation industry will be free from tomorrow.
