Water level of reservoirs near hydropower plants increase

Colombo (News 1st): The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy states the water levels of reservoirs surrounding power stations has increased to 92% following heavy rain. The Director of the Water Management Unit of the Department of Irrigation, Janaki Meegasthanna stated that the water level of the main reservoirs under the purview of their department has reached 88%. Moreover, Director General of the Department of Agriculture W.M.W. Weerakoon has also instructed the farmers to start cultivation in the Yala season using the water collected during this quarter.
